Magazine Add
This was our first assignment. We cut out pictures from magazines and made an add for a product of our choice using certain elements and principals of design such as contrast, balance, rhythm, shape, proportion, color, texture, etc. Rhythm is the way your eye goes across the paper and the order in which you look at things for example. Contrast is the balance between light and dark. Texture is the way something looks, maybe you can see the grains in bread for a sandwich, or something looks like hard, shiney platic.

Business Flyer
We scanned a picture that we brought in from home onto our computer and made a business flyer. First we had to think of something to advertise for the flyer using our picture. For my flyer I chose a dance because the picture was taken at our eighth grade dance. After that I filled in all the necessary information for a flyer advertising the occpation of dance coordinators. Some of this information is where to contact the business, how to contact the business, and a little about what the business does.
Halloween Flyer
The Halloween flyer advertised for a Halloween party. Some of the information required is the place, date, time, anything that you should bring. Another thing to include is a little about what will be at the party such as junk food and soda. We were also supposed to decorate using clip art and internet pictures if we wanted. Lastly, the title had to be made in paint by hand, as you can tell.
Poodle Add
For the poodle add we had to make an add while using the principals and elements of design. The picture of the poodle was to be taken from google images. After we put it on the publication and copied it we had to make a mirror image of it. To make a mirror image we flipped it. We had to make a purple square and a yellow border around it and put the necessary information to advertise the poodles. Lastly, we had to use the link text boxes tool and put the linked text boxes on opposite sides of the advertisement.
Self Portrait
Our self portrait began with a picture of ourself taken in class. The assignment/ goal was to make the picture look like a drawing or sketch of the picture. We had to change the contrast to make it lighter. Chalk and pencil were used for making lighter, darker, or shading in areas that looked too "pixely." Also, we put the picture through the copier after editing it this would make also help to change the contrast. After we finished each step, it was saved in order to show how we progressed.
One Page Formal Brochure
This is our one-page formal brochure. It was supposed to describe us and tell what experience we had for the job that was hinted we were advertising for. The job I chose was babysitting. We used our self portrait for the picture and I put a border around it to make it stand out. We made the font look more professional/ fancy because we are advertising for a job and described ourselves so we would fit our job.
Tri-Fold Brochure
The tri-fold brochure has to be on one of four businesses: Blue Moon Hair Studio, Al's Pig Roast, Animal House of Grooming or Cupper's Cafe. I chose Blue Moon Hair Studio and above is only the front and back covers with the second page you open up to. First, you have to make the publication document into landscape mode. Next, you have to make three even sections so you can make the three different columns on each page. Then, you duplicate the page so you can have six columns total. Once you select the brochure idea and get the information you have to organize it on the publication document. Lastly, you have to re-word the information and print when you're done.
